How we started

We started by a few ideas based on our experience and observation:

• There are large price level differences between developed and developing countries. That is, the amount of goods and services that you can buy with US$10 dollars in the US is very different to what you can buy with US$10 dollars in rural Vietnam, Ghana, El Salvador, or Tanzania. For example, BIMA Tanzania offer hospital cover insurance for add-on children for as low as US$0.33 per month.


• A little encouragement to the students in need go a really long way beyond the dollars received. It gives them hope and confidence and the lift needed to continue studying.


• All of us are born philanthropists. We are willing to give back and willing to help others. We would be happy to contribute a small amount of money to lift others. However, the conditions have to be right: we need to know who are the recipients, we need to know if the money has the maximum impact, and we need to be informed.
